Executive Ghostwriting
Strategic Messaging for Visionary Leaders
I help CEOs, board leaders, and executives across cause-based organizations share personal, powerful messages that resonate. Whether for a letter, op-ed, internal announcement, or keynote, I write with voice alignment, emotional intelligence, and strategy in mind, ensuring every piece is true to the speaker while building public trust.
Case Studies
President & CEO, Charles “Chip” Huggins, JD
Suicide Prevention Op-Ed for President and CEO
Driving Public Trust with a CEO’s Personal Story
Project: National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Letter to the Editor
Role: Ghostwriter & Media Liaison
Hope Services wanted to use Suicide Prevention Month as an opportunity to speak to stigma, share the CEO’s personal connection, and elevate the organization’s voice in public discourse.
I ghostwrote a deeply personal op-ed on behalf of President & CEO Charles “Chip” Huggins. Drawing on his family’s lived experience, the piece communicated vulnerability and mission alignment. I then pitched and secured placement with The Mercury News, which featured the piece online and in its print edition as part of a regional mental health conversation.
Result:
Letter published online and in print by major regional outlet
Strengthened public perception of CEO leadership and organizational transparency
Advanced Hope’s commitment to stigma reduction and mental health equity

Ghostwritten Year-End Appeal Letter Signed by VP of Development
I ghostwrote a 4-page direct mail appeal signed by the VP of Development, weaving together emotionally resonant narratives from across Hope’s programs. The letter featured four distinct client stories—Sammy, Chi, Alex, and Chris—each aligned with different core services (early intervention, education, mental health, independent living).
Strategically, the letter:
Positioned the donor as central to each success story’s outcome
Used urgency-driven language and match framing to heighten impact
Employed tiered CTAs, repetition, and varied proof points to sustain momentum
Maintained tone consistency with Hope’s public voice, while elevating narrative flow and donor-centric framing
Result:
The letter helped anchor Hope Services’ most successful Giving Tuesday and year-end campaign to date as part of a fully integrated multichannel strategy.
Combined with digital outreach, it supported a year-end campaign that brought in over $250,000 from 372 donors.
Director of Mental Health, Anna Fernandez, LMFT
Executive Message for Director of Mental Health
Ghostwriting to Break Stigma and Build Resilience
Project: Cross-channel Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign Letter
Role: Ghostwriter
Hope’s Mental Health Director wanted to share a heartfelt message during Suicide Prevention Week, but needed help articulating a deeply personal experience in a way that felt safe, strategic, and audience-appropriate.
I collaborated with Anna Fernandez, LMFT, to capture her story of personal loss and professional insight. The resulting letter wove vulnerability with strength and clarity, published on Hope’s website and distributed via web, email, and social.
Result:
Personal message reached thousands across Hope’s community
Aided destigmatization of mental health conversations internally and externally
Strengthened brand voice consistency across programs and leadership
Board Chair, Cameron Haste
Annual Report Letter for Outgoing Board Chair
Communicating Change Through Executive Messaging
Project: 2023–2024 Annual Report Welcome Letter and Farewell Message
Role: Ghostwriter & Editorial Collaborator
As Hope Services prepared to welcome new leadership to its Board of Directors, outgoing Board Chair Cameron Haste needed a message that honored his 10 years of service while ensuring a smooth, forward-looking transition. The goal was to reflect on accomplishments, express gratitude, and instill confidence in the organization's continued direction—all within the sensitive and symbolic context of a leadership farewell.
I collaborated closely with Cameron to shape a letter that was both personal and strategic. By carefully mirroring his voice and tone, the message conveyed authenticity and warmth while reinforcing institutional values and vision. Structurally, the letter was crafted to serve as the opening to the Annual Report, meaning it had to set the emotional tone for the full publication—bridging legacy and future, and preparing readers for the milestones ahead.
The final product struck a balance between gratitude and growth, positioning the leadership transition not as an ending, but as a continuation of momentum.
Result:
Published in the organization’s flagship print publication
Set a reflective yet optimistic tone for the full Annual Report
Reinforced organizational continuity during a leadership change
Honored outgoing board leadership with grace and authenticity
Elevated the role of the Board in Hope’s ongoing vision and credibility
